Taking the family to KL and want to know how to entertain the kids? Such a vibrant, clean and energetic city, we had a wonderful 2 days there and could have happily stayed longer! You’ve surely heard of the ever so popular Batu Caves but want to know some other ways to keep the whole family busy? Read on!

Petronas Twin Towers- observation deck and Skybridge. 86th floor offers panoramic views over the city. Make sure to book tickets in advance as this books out days to weeks in advance!

KLCC Park including playground and splash pad- large lush green sanctuary right in the heart of KL. A large playground provides fun for all ages and the wading pool provides cool relief to young children. Open 10am to 10pm. At night there is an hourly light and sound show!

Butterfly Park- an enclosed butterfly garden in the Perdana Botanical Gardens which also includes fish (which you can feed!) and beautiful greenery and water features. There is also a few educational rooms where you can earn more about butterflies and insects and see some exhibits up close!

Petrosains Disovery Centre- engaging and interactive scientific exhibits for all ages! We could have easily spent the entire day here. From traditional energy and physics experiments to becoming an F1 race car driver, there was so much to do. Highly recommended activity with kids!

Berjaya Times Square Theme Park- an huge indoor amusement park located inside a shopping complex! With rides and attractions for all ages, this was a really fun indoor activity for the whole family and great to escape the heat. The best part? Absolutely no lines- we walked on to everything! The kids didn’t even have to get off the bumper cars! They were allowed to ride continuously until they wanted to move on!  The complex offered food outlets galore, so many different choices if you were feeling peckish. The shopping centre also hosts escape rooms, axe throwing, jungle gyms. laser tag, VR experiences, archery, bowling and more! You could easily spend multiple days here trying all the various activities. If we had more time I would have loved to let my younger two kids loose on the jungle gym! It looked fantastic for pre-schoolers and toddlers.

Bird Park- a large aviary with many free range bird species. The entire park hosts up to 200 local and exotic species. Get up close and personal with flamingoes, peacocks and hornbills to name a few! Enjoy various informative talks and entertaining shows. If it’s your thing- pose for a photo with birds perched on your arms and shoulders! Located in Perdana Botanical Gardens (same as the butterfly park) so you can do these activities back to back.

Chinatown- explore and experience culinary delights at Chinatown. Let your senses take hold as you experience one of the local cuisines in a fun and casual street food market. Or shop the many items on offer at the market stalls. Overall, a great cultural and affordable experience for everyone and one that can be enjoyed time after time across multiple visits.

After a busy and long day of exploring (which is even more tiring in the Malaysian heat!), I’d recommend popping the kids in the hotel pool, sitting back and enjoying a cocktail with the satisfaction of a day well spent!
