Imagine watching DisneySeaâs âBelieve! Sea of Dreamsâ show from your own private balcony at Miracosta, kids cozy in their pyjamas and the adults enjoying a cheeky beverage đ» This was our reality on our recent trip to TDR proving dreams really do come true.Â
Anyone who has visited TDR and has either attempted or successfully managed to stay on property knows just how exclusive and challenging this can be to book. Even an experienced Disney traveller like myself had to allow for adequate planning but wow! Acquiring these highly sought after rooms was well worth all the effort and allowed a magical experience when visiting the parks this May. Read on about our room types and experiences as a large family with children aged 8, 7, 3 and 1 at time of stay:Â
Hotel Miracosta-Â Speciale Rooms & Suites Porto Paradiso Side Balcony Room Harbor View.
Hotel Miracosta is the hotel which is situated right in the middle of DisneySea. At our last visit to TDR, my husband and I looked longingly up to the few rooms with balconies whilst we were on the cold ground awaiting the night show on the harbor and decided that the next time we came, we had to stay in this room type. And so we did! The balcony was the absolute best for a family of young children as it meant they were in their pjs (the youngest even asleep) when we were watching the night show and then the fireworks. Being that close to the action was surreal-waving to guests when the park buzzed with life and later soaking in the magical silence once it was closed. The room had twin beds, a trundle and a cruise bed. The location is perfect to easily duck back to the room for an afternoon rest whilst still remaining in the âDisney bubbleâ and not feeling as though you are missing out. Staying here also grants you âhappy entry,â 15 minutes earlier entry to the park from a separate entrance. Donât underestimate the power this has at an incredibly busy theme park!  Having the privilege of staying in this room was the absolute highlight of all our trip and I would love to do it again, although this was probably a once in a lifetime experience.
PROS- literally inside the park, up nice and close to all the action without having to leave your room, super convenient with kids and their schedules.
CONS- extremely difficult to book, comes at a premium price, Mediterranean theming may feel âless Disneyâ to some.

Fantasy Springs Hotel- Fantasy Chateau Rose Court Side Superior Alcove Room.Â
This newest and most sought after hotel is also at DisneySea but opens up into the newest land-Fantasy Springs. The room is lovely and new, and we had a higher priced room category to look out onto a Beauty and the Beast themed garden. This room had twin beds, a trundle and an alcove bed with a pretty Rapunzel theme. The big advantage to staying here is not only the Happy Entry, but being able to use the park entrance directly into Fantasy Springs. This meant that we were able to go straight to the most popular ride of all of TDR-Frozen. This ride can accumulate queues of 3 hours or so and priority paid passes generally sell out before 9am (which is the park opening time for the general public). The room itself is nice enough but I wouldnât stay here again unless I was returning while there is still a hype and difficulty in riding Frozen. PROS- brand new and exclusive, provides early entry direct into Fantasy Springs,
CONS- extremely difficult to book, far away from everything else apart from Fantasy Springs, hotel lacking traditional âDisney feelâ and can appear quite empty.

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel-Â Beauty and the Beast Room.Â
Directly opposite Tokyo Disneyland, this room was pure magic! Their character rooms are next level and this room made us feel as though we were actually in the Beauty and the Beast movie. This room had twin beds, a trundle and an alcove bed and was huge for Japan standards and our largest room at TDR. The detailing was spectacular. I would highly recommend this room type if youâre wanting to fully encompass the Disney magic. Worth noting that staying here grants Happy Entry to Disneyland ONLY, not DisneySea.
PROS- plenty of space, classic Disney vibes, directly opposite Tokyo Disneyland.
CONS- Does not award any DisneySea benefits, themed rooms are more expensive.

Tokyo Disneyland Hotel- Standard Superior Alcove Room Park view.Â
Whilst still not cheap, this was the cheapest of the 4 room types we stayed in. We had a gorgeous view overlooking the Alice in Wonderland garden with the Disney monorail constantly going past and the Disneyland castle peeking over the top. Again, we had twin beds, a trundle and an alcove bed and was a nice way to still feel connected to the park when we were in the room. With the window open, we could hear the music playing and at night we could see some of the projections over the castle for the âReach for the Starsâ show. I am pleased we opted to pay that little more for a âpark viewâ room rather than being in one of the rooms facing the opposite side of the hotel. PROS- much easier to book, much cheaper whilst still providing Disney magic.
CONS- Does not award any DisneySea benefits, less âexcitement factors.â

All of these hotels fall under the âdeluxeâ category and this meant that we were provided pyjamas specific to each of the hotels. It was a nice touch being able to have matching family pjs and for these to change as we moved hotels! The rooms also had a number of merchandise items to take home for free! And these items were replenished daily so you could store them away in your luggage and get more! We definitely preferred staying onsite compared to a previous visit in which we stayed at a partner hotel. Â
So, youâre now sold on staying at TDR and want to know how I managed to book all these exclusive rooms? Read about that in an upcoming post! Want a post dedicated to the overall hotel experiences and facilities? Let me know! In the meantime, which room would you most like to stay in?!
